Today, we take a moment to wish everyone a Happy Juneteenth. This day holds significance in American history, commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. It’s a day of celebration, reflection, and unity.
Juneteenth marks the day when enslaved African-Americans were informed of their freedom on June 19th, 1865. This happened two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation. On this day, troops arrived in Texas and announced that the Civil War had ended and that all enslaved people were free.
