Issues with Elgato Wave Link Update

For streamers who rely on Elgato’s Wave Link software to manage their audio, the latest software update has been anything but smooth. A few users have reported that after updating, Wave Link refuses to launch—leaving them scrambling to troubleshoot and get their audio back on track.

The Problem

After installing the new update, Wave Link simply won’t open—no error message, no explanation, just nothing. For few, uninstalling and reinstalling the software did not fix the issue, adding to the frustration.

The Fix (For Now):

After some digging, the solution seems to be manually deleting the audio configuration file. Here’s how:

  1. Navigate to Program Files:
    • Open File Explorer and go to:
      C:\Program Files\Elgato\Wave Link
  2. Locate and Delete the Audio Config File:
    • Find the configuration file (usually named something like audio_settings.xml) and delete it.
  3. Re-launch Wave Link:
    • After removing the file, Wave Link should finally open.

The Downside:

While this fix gets Wave Link running again, there’s one major downside: You’ll have to completely reconfigure your audio settings. Deleting the config file means starting from scratch—an annoying and time-consuming process for any content creator.

What’s Next?

As of now, there’s no official fix from Elgato, and it’s unclear when a patch will roll out. If you’re holding off on the update, it might be best to wait until the issue is resolved to avoid the hassle of reconfiguring your audio setup.

For those who’ve already run into this issue, unfortunately, deleting the config file remains the only viable solution. Fingers crossed that Elgato addresses this problem ASAP to save streamers from unnecessary headaches.
