Recently, Twitch streamer Shmeadie found herself getting spammed with bots and hurtful comments during a recent stream, enduring an onslaught of derogatory remarks.
Schmeadie is a streamer who plays a ton of games on Twitch at various times throughout the week. She took to X, formerly known as Twitter to recount the unsettling ordeal.
“I never post about being follow botted or engage in rude comments online bc they’re not honestly just not worth my time. What just happened on my stream needs to be known about because I’ve never seen this.
– Shmeadie
Describing the disturbing nature of the attack, Shmeadie revealed she had no idea how to go about it, stating that the accounts send messages through bots. This often time makes them impossible to trace. Despite her resilience, she expresses profound dismay at the vile nature of the comments directed toward her.
“I genuinely don’t care about what people have to say about my physical appearance, have your opinion I really don’t care but; sexualizing me, saying inappropriate things, pretending to dox me is so f****** psychotic I don’t think even a doctor can begin to diagnose them with a problem.”

In an attempt to instill fear and anxiety, the attackers even attempted to breach her privacy by threatening to dox her, despite her precautions such as concealing her Amazon wishlist. “My Amazon wishlist hides my address; they just wanted to cause me anxiety,” Shmeadie explained.
Moreover, she expressed bewilderment at the cryptic hashtag #scolded, highlighting the perplexing and often nonsensical nature of online harassment. Despite her efforts to distance herself from the drama, Shmeadie found herself entangled in a web of toxicity that transcends individual disputes.
In the wake of this, fellow streamer TrustNoWitch shared a tip from another streamer aimed at taking down bots and hurtful comments. The tweet is a set of commands for a stream deck that would enable Twitch’s shield mode, a feature aimed at protecting a stream from these bots. You can learn more about that here.
Nevertheless, the prevalence of spam bots and toxic behavior on platforms like Twitch underscores a tough challenge. Despite efforts to curb such behavior through bans, these bots continue to find ways to evade detection, perpetuating a cycle of harassment and intimidation.
As creators like Shmeadie continue to navigate the streaming community, their resilience and determination serve as a testament to the enduring spirit of the streaming community. Through solidarity, vigilance, and a commitment to positivity, they strive to create a safer and more welcoming environment for all.
